Its better to wait!
My uncle is in the Indian Coast Guard and he keeps me updated about how things work there , they make you sign a bond where they cover your tpye rating and expenses if u decide to break the bond you have to pay up for the money for type rating and stuff , same as an airline but the pay is low in the coast guard as compared to the airlines!

Hey guys,

I got selected for the Indian Coast Guard. However, I could not join them as I was declared medically unfit in all the three medicals.

Here are my thoughts. There is lot in the Indian Coast Guard, other than the job as a pilot. It is one of the Indian Armed Forces. It is a way of life. One has to understand the difference between the well relaxed, non-disciplined civil lifestyle and some of the toughest defence training standards in the Indian Coast Guard.

When it comes to a job, you will be a dignified, Group A Gazzeted defence officer. Bond is for 8 years. Quitting in between is difficult to say the least. But, at the end of 8 years, you can clock a reasonably good amount of flight time given the shortage of pilots in the Coast Guard.

Over all, given the job situation in the civil sector, it is the best option for people who understand and are inclined towards the defence uniform - the rest follows.

Cheers
Sandy
Thanks

@ Cyrilroy21 - I was detected with some kind of a small spine problem, called schmorl's nodes. I appealed twice and still no good.

@ Milton3371 - Get some books on SSB. The selection process of Coast Guard is very similar to that of the SSB. It has 2 stages, PSB and FSB. Go through all the tests given in SSB, except for the outdoor activities as they are not conducted in the CGSB. Get yourself books on verbal and non verbal tests.

All the best.

Cheers
Sandy
Thanks
